Infrastructure Ontario invites bids for Highway 407 East construction
The Ontario government has invited three consortia to submit proposals to design, build, finance and maintain an eastern extension of Highway 407, a toll expressway that bypasses Toronto to the north.
The three groups of companies are on a short list of five bidders who were pre-qualified earlier this year to submit bids. The short list was announced in March and the request for proposals was released Thursday.
407 East Development Group includes Cintra Infraestructuras S.A., Intoll Group and SNC-Lavalin.
407 East Development Partners includes OHL Concesiones S.L., Global Via Infrastructuras S.A, Borealis Infrastructure Management Inc., Con-Drain Company Ltd and and Coco Paving Inc.
407 GreenLink Partners includes Bilfinger Berger Project Investments; Macquarie Group Ltd; AECON Group Inc. and Fengate Capital Management Ltd.
Infrastructure Ontario said it expects to select a team next year.
The Highway 407 East project includes an extension of the existing toll route from Brock Road in Pickering to Harmony Road in Oshawa by 2015. The province plans to expand it further to Highway 35 and 115 by 2020.
